Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is there heating and cooling because it's a Passive House?
Yes, we have a small Air Conditioner hidden within the joinery but the house's temperature sits between 20 - 25'C with internal humidity ranging from 30 - 60%. This is achieved with the aid of our Heat Recovery Ventilation System (HRV) but if you would like the house a bit cooler or warmer for personal preference please feel free to turn on the Air Conditioner.
  • Can I have an early check in / late check out?
Depending on bookings as we need time to clean and reset the space, once booked contact us via Airbnb messenger and we will be happy to accommodate.
  • Are kids and/or pets allowed?
Unfortunately no - we’ve chosen to list on Airbnb as sleeps 4, no kids, no pets as we have our own dog and we kindly ask guests to respect our decision. This includes babies and toddlers as we use Pepper Tree as a display home / home office for our building company and have 3 children under 5 and know how cheeky young kids can be.
  • Can I elope at Pepper Tree?
If you’re eloping in the traditional sense (ie it’s just you two and the celebrant with maybe a photographer and a few other friends or family along for the ride) we’d LOVE to host you at Pepper Tree Passive House and we can’t encourage you enough to reach out to us to discuss your plans. Eloping at Pepper Tree Passive House requires written permission from us, the owners, there is a $1500 + GST hire fee in addition to your (minimum two nights) stay. Simply send us an email to chat further.
  • Do you hire the Pepper Tree Passive House for editorial / commercial use?
Set against the amazing backdrop of Mount Kembla, Pepper Tree Passive House offers a diverse mix of interior and exterior locations for your next photoshoot, campaign and/or film. It’s $1500 + GST per (8-10 hour) day and we welcome crews from all over. If you’d like to chat more please use the contact form to drop us a line. Small business owners - please don’t book a two night stay and attempt to sneak a commercial shoot in whilst you’re there. Sadly this happens all too often in our industry and you will be retroactively billed for location hire should commercial images emerge of our property without our written consent (this includes paid or sponsored social media content).
  • Do you have outdoor heating?
No, we are a 100% electric house with no gas on the property and we wouldn't want any open flames underneath our amazing Pepper Tree.
